MAPACA show PDF Print E-mail

Spent the past weekend at the MAPACA show and auction in Harrisburg, PA. It was a great learning experience for a small farm like us. We only took one animal and shared a stall with another small farm. We took Snow White who is our white female that was born last summer. Being the largest alpaca show on the east coast, she was among over sixty alpacas in her class. She did not ribbon at this show but was very well behaved in the ring and we think she will take her share of ribbons in shows where confirmation is more important than fleece.

While at the show we attended the live auction on Saturday afternoon. It was our first time at such an event and found the whole process very interesting. We saw some very nice animals be auctioned and were surprised by some of the prices attained.

Even though we did not win a ribbon the weekend was a success. We talked with several nice alpaca folks, many public visitors and strengthened our ties with the farm we stalled with. We would highly recommend attending this show if you can.
